Author/Writer

Melissa Riemer writes stories about ambitious people, impossible dreams, and the kind of love that changes everything.

A mixed-race Chinese-German Australian and newly minted Canadian citizen, Melissa has spent much of her life chasing stories across continents. Before turning to novels, she worked as a screenwriter, filmmaker, music producer, fashion model, journalist, and occasional adventurer—experiences that continue to find their way onto the page.

A graduate of the prestigious Pacific Screenwriting Program's Scripted Series Lab, Melissa developed her storytelling under the mentorship of acclaimed showrunner Michael MacLennan. Her work has been recognized through screenplay competitions, film festival selections, and arts funding initiatives, while her original music has been featured by Netflix, Volvo, and brands around the world.

When she isn't writing, Melissa can usually be found scuba diving somewhere tropical, freediving over coral reefs, searching for the perfect matcha latte, or convincing herself that another passport stamp is absolutely necessary for research purposes.

She's been obsessed with Formula One since childhood, attending her first race with her father in Melbourne and falling in love with the speed, glamour, and drama of the sport. Since then, she's attended races across multiple countries, wandered through paddocks, watched championships won and lost, and collected enough stories to inspire her debut novel, The Winning Formula.

Melissa lives in Canada with two very spoiled rescue rabbits and far too many travel plans. She is currently in Paris for school, learning to speak French. Oui oui!
